25.11.2002: Space Kelly Christmas single on Syft!

While Europe is still waiting for the album release to come Space Kelly´s Japanese label is about to put out a new single. Due to an obvious reason (yes, they do celebrate Christmas in Japan as well, even though I´m not sure wheather they know why...) Syft Records will put out the Space Kelly Christmas single “Schnee” (that means “Snow”) just before Christmas Eve. This composition by Randy Newman (it was also once done by Harper´s Bizarre in the 60s and Claudine Longet in the 70s) is coated in some heartful German Space Kelly lyrics. The 7” single (on white vinyl!) includes a special piano version of Space Kelly´s smash hit “Schluss, Aus und Vorbei!” while the CD single features an unreleased bonus track. For those who don´t live in Japan - we will try to make this release also available here on our website fanshop (in January). So please look out!

25.11.2002: Japanese Space Kelly fansite on the internet!

Recently we stumbled over some nicely made Japanese fansites. If you feel like taking a look yourself – here are two cute examples (don´t be confused if the letters appear as hieroglyphics – it´s all in Japanese!): www.geocities.co.jp/Athlete-Athene/2888/SPACE_KELLY_FAN_SITE.html or www.h4.dion.ne.jp/~wake-up/s_kelly/

25.11.2002: Zitty likes Space Kelly!

Berlin City Magazine ZITTY voted Space Kelly among the 100 most important acts of the city. Nothing to be particularily proud of, but funny anyway – considering which bands have not been listed at all. ☺

12.07.2002: Space Kelly – Japan album hit the 6.000 mark!

Despite a growing number of CD piracy and illegal home-copying even in Japan the new Space Kelly album “S.K.F.C.” already sold 6.000 copies. For an independent release this is a remarkable figure. Thank you Japan!

12.07.2002: Space Kelly on NHK!

11.07.2002: Space Kelly 5 Japan Tour a big success!

Almost 3.000 spectators at 5 shows! While there was still a little space left at their first night in Nagoya, Apollo Theatre, the rest of the shows in Osaka (twice), Kyoto and Toyko were almost sold out. The incredible euphoria and enthusiasm the band was welcomed with in the land of the rising sun stunned Space Kelly and his boys big time. Even Space Kelly´s Japanese label Syft Records, the booking agent as well as some local organisers were thrilled with the success of the shows. Cubismo Grafico did an excellent job as opening band and delivered a great and happy atmosphere not only on stage. Space Kelly also played a few solo shows in more country-side areas (Hamamatsu, Matsue and Fukuoka) only decorated with a guitar. All his worries were swept away after a cheering and screaming crowd carried him from song to song.

10.07.2002: Space Kelly tour split single!

Syft records pressed a special and exclusive tour split single with a new track from Cubismo Grafico´s forthcoming album and Space Kelly 5 with a live cover version of the Beach Boys classic “Do You Wanna Dance” which was part of the SK5 live set in Japan. Unfortunately the strictly limited double a-side record (with very cute sleeve) was only released in Japan but maybe you get lucky and find an imported copy in your local record store (if you don´t happen to live in Japan)...

Unfortunately this limited 7” single as well as the follow-up CD compilation (with all contributions) is only available in Japan. A few copies might be available on the Space Kelly website.
